Winter Seed Swap & Sow

Winter temps notwithstanding, now is the time to get your gardens percolating. Join us at Morton Memorial Library in Rhinecliff for our annual seed swap and winter sowing get-together!

February 8, at 3 pm

If you’ve got seeds to share, great, if not, we’ll have some on hand. And if you’re ready to get your hands in the dirt, step up to our Winter Sowing Station where we’ll show you how to make mini outdoor gardens (think portable cold frames) out of recycled one gallon milk/water jugs. Plant your selected seeds, put the jugs in a sunny outdoor spot, and let Mother Nature nurture them into seedlings that you can plant in the ground when the weather warms. (Or, if you’re a micro-greens consumer, just eat them as they sprout.)

We’ll have dirt, seeds, and the necessary accoutrement, but ask that you bring an empty one-gallon jug or two, if possible. Please be sure the jugs are clean and transparent (access to sunlight is critical for germination).

No need to register, just bring your enthusiasm, containers, and, if you have them, some seeds to share.
